Ted Hale - Boat Types ...
Ted Hale Racing Boats are available in a number of different manufacturing formats to suit the needs of competitors and a variety of budgets. Boats are available from Type A to Type D.

Type A - Carbonfibre/Kevlar/Honeycomb Hull and Deck
Hulls are State of the Art Racing craft of the highest quality. The full range of shells utilising the most up to date technology and Space Age materials. Hulls are designed with Y-Frame format with central ridge line along fore and aft decks branching at the fore and aft bulkheads to transfer the load to the washboards through the cockpit area - resulting in an extremely rigid, stylish hull.
Built with full external Carbonfibre skin for rigidity and resistance to intrusion. Internal skin is Kevlar or Carbonfibre and the bonded core is honeycomb. The shell is vacuum formed and heat cured for maximum strength, with high quality- 2-pack painted finish.

Type B - Fibreglass/Honeycomb Hull and Deck
A more general-purpose boat, utilising the same hull shapes as Type A boats, but with savings on materials to suit the restricted budget. Built with internal and external Fibreglass skin and Honeycomb core bonded with Epoxy. Increased glass content is required to achieve stiffness, but the positive bond of glass to honeycomb results in a very durable boat. Shell is vacuum formed and heat cured, with high quality' 2-pack finish.

Type C - Fibreglass Laminate Hull and Fibreglass/Honeycomb Deck
A combination of simple laminate fibreglass hull. Together with fibreglass and honeycomb sandwich monocoque deck and "canvas" areas with full exterior gel coat. A rigid and durable training/racing boat with excellent durability - due to skin deflection.

Type D - Fibreglass Hull and Deck
Simple fibreglass construction and suitable for training. Basic range for everyday knockabout use - for teaching and leisure.
Fully moulded fibreglass construction with gel coat exterior. Easy to maintain and simple to repair.

LEASE BOATS

There has been an increasing demand on the leasing of boats for racing. Some of this demand has been caused by interstate regattas whereby the distance to haul the boats has been very expensive (i.e. 6000km of travel = fuel + mileage + wear and tear on towing vehicles and trailor + accommodation + wear and tear on the boats themselves + tired drivers wishing to compete). Prices for lease boats are available upon application.

Leasing Conditions
The lease boats will be delivered to the regatta by Ted Hale Rowing and technical support will be available for the whole period of the regatta. Lease boats are only Type A boats.
A 50% deposit would need to be paid with a written confirmation of the lease arrangements.
The total amount needs to be paid one week before the start of the regatta.

We would like to introduce our Selected/Recommended Quality Rowing Boat Repair Man for TASMANIA:
Mason Rowing Industries

Mason Rowing Industries is owned and managed by Bob Mason and is situated in Deloraine, Tasmania. Bob is a Fitter-Machinist-Welder-Toolmaker by trade and has been repairing and manufacturing in the rowing industry now for eleven years. Bob has also manufactured two shapes of single sculls in all materials except timber. Part of the reason that Mason Rowing Industries started up was through the encouragement of various colleagues and respected businessmen. In fact it was Howard Croker himself from Croker Oars, who actually convinced Bob to start up his own business when he moved from Taree, NSW to Tasmania, and Bob has never looked back. Bob also repairs and does conversions etc. on all Croker Oars and also all other brands of carbon and timber oars (including wooden surf sweep oars).

Bob carries out general repairs, complete boat restorations, and modifications on all rowing shells and specialises in carrying out complete fleet maintenance for schools and clubs in Tasmania. Whether those shells be wooden, fibreglass, Kevlar, honeycomb, carbonfibre or composites, Bob can organise to pick up and deliver throughout the whole of Tasmania. Bob also does maintenance and repairs on surfboats, skis, surfboards and also carbon bikes.

Bob is always striving to provide the best service and the best workmanship and continually aims to improve his workmanship on a daily basis. Bob relies on word of mouth as his main marketing tool. Bob still races with a veteran cycle club and his advice to sportspeople of all ages and all levels is …

"I stress to young athletes the power of the mind in sports. If you use sport as a discipline, it will help you through life".
